Family

I then lost my Dad and found myself having to look after my 90 year old Mum. This and work simply couldn't continue so I sold my Servicing and Repair business. I then found myself working at the NEC on the MCEA stand and was talking to Paul Stapleton. He had some inspection work that needed doing and asked if I be interested in that. That started my next career move. I started to inspect caravans, motorhomes and trailers for the MCEA. Word got out and I started to pick up work from dealers, insurance companies, solicitors, Trading Standards and consumers. My Mum then moved into a care home and it gave me the time to concentrate on my new and growing business.

Hobbies

I had a motorhome at the time and when I realised how difficult it was to get a good service, I decided that was going to be my next career move. I hunted around and came across the Mobile Caravan Engineers Association (MCEA). I did my initial training with them in Trowbridge. I then went on to do lots of other manufacturer training etc.. I still am a member of the MCEA and work very closely with Paul Stapleton.

Work History

I spent the start of my working life working for British Coals Scientific Service having studied in Nottingham. With the demise of the mining industry, I looked for a total change and went to work for BT in a division that was known as British Telecom International (BTI). I had a good career with BT and worked all over Europe. But I got itchy feet and wanted to work for myself. That was the best decision I ever made.

Company

I thought that I would send out a little bit about me as I am going to be contacting many of you over the next few months regarding QS Assessments. Some of you may have seen me at the last couple of AGMs as I represented the MCEA. If not then I am sure that we will all meet soon.

No one wants you poking around a vehicle in the middle of a pandemic. Once again by pure chance the work with the NTTA came along. I had the time and experience. I started to work with Sarah and I'm now carrying out audits on behalf of the NTTA alongside my own business.
